We're in Salt Lake City for the night, after an 11 hour drive from Monarch Pass, Colorado. Our week in Taos was very fun and relaxing. We drove the Enchanted Circle Loop, bicycled through town, shopped (mostly me), dined at several excellent restaurants, watched $1 RedBox movies, read, watched TV, and surfed on the internet. We left there last Friday to meet longtime friends Nick and Tess Nossaman at a campground at 10,500 feet in the Rocky Mountains of Southwest Colorado near Monarch Pass. The air there was somewhat thin, but our week in Taos at 7000 feet helped to acclimatize us. Still, we were huffing and puffing on some of the hikes we took. The scenery was glorious and the company was stellar. I'll post some photos soon.
Today was the first leg of our three day trek to Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast, where we plan to meet daughter Stacy and her family on July 1st for a 4-day holiday weekend. Two more 400 mile plus days and we should be there. We traveled through beautiful mountains, mesas, and deserts today and by tomorrow night hope to be in Baker City, Oregon. Time for bed now.
